Looking for a wedding photographer ?

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Choosing a wedding photographer is such a daunting task for many bridal couples as there are a lot of factors to consider such as your budget, the style of the photographer and location of your wedding. Many a times, bridal couples tend to go for a cheaper photographer compromising on quality and style though couples are often asked to allocate at least 10% from their wedding budget for photography cost.

So to help you source for a good photographer to capture the essence of your wedding day, here are some questions you should ask your wedding photographer:

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Here’s wishing everyone a blessed Christmas & a prosperous New Year.

An Amazing Holiday in Bali !!

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

I’ve just returned after spending 5 fun-tastic and breathtaking days in Bali with my husband! Though it sounds like a long holiday, the days just went by like a breeze. Our trip to Bali was to coincide with our 2nd year wedding anniversary and it was definitely well spent!

We stayed at Tanjong Benua, Nusa Dua and were blessed with great weather, beautiful sunshine and a heavenly pool. Bali’s a great destination for bargain hunters, art lovers and wood carving enthusiasts.

I would definitely recommend Bali as a honeymoon and a wedding destination to anyone as the scenery there is simply gorgeous for wedding photography. I’ve enjoyed my time there and if any of you are interested to have your pre-wedding or actual day wedding photography shot there, please give me a call and I’d love to hop on the next plane with you!

Here are some snapshots of my holiday. Do enjoy!

David & Suzanne's 20th Wedding Anniversary, 21 November 2008

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

I had the privilege to photograph David & Suzanne’s 20th wedding anniversary last Friday at the Selayang Palace Restaurant.  The restaurant was just next to the Selayang Hospital but getting there was not easy as it was a Friday night hence the massive jam !

As I was taking the shots, I enjoyed observing the 50-odd guests consisting of David & Suzanne’s very close family and friends and waited for the right moment to capture them breaking into a laugh or smile.  As I was taking the shots, I even had loads of valuable photography tips from Uncle Tom who photographs various dignitaries from Singapore. Thanks for the tips Uncle Tom !

David & Suzanne – You both are blessed indeed, I wish you many more happy anniversaries to come !

Jeffrey & Joan’s Wedding Dinner, 15 November 2008

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Here are more shots of Jeffrey & Joan’s wedding dinner ceremony held at Janbo Restaurant, Puchong. The celebration was a nice and cosy event with less than 100 people attending. The food at the restaurant was lovely and the staff were attentive.

It was interesting to watch the guests’ signing (using sign language) their speeches, I also learnt a few new signs today i.e congratulations and how to “yam seng” (toast) like a deaf person.

All in all, it was an amazing experience for me and I thank both Jeffrey & Joan for it and wish them wedded bliss all their lives!

Jeffrey & Joan’s Wedding Ceremony, 15 November 2008

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I enjoyed photographing weddings, to me it is an amazing experience and honour to capture one of the most important day of the couple’s life!

Jeffrey & Joan’s wedding ceremony was really inspiring as it was the first time I have actually photographed a wedding couple who is hearing-impaired. Luckily I managed to communicate with the couple using some sign language which I had learned a few years ago which made things a little more easier.

The wedding mass was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (OLG) in Puchong and celebrated by Rev Fr. Leonard Lexon who also made a big effort to pick-up some sign language to communicate with both Jeffrey & Joan. A huge shout-out to Agnes as well who was simply wonderful with her interpretation skills and made the wedding even more meaningful for the couple.

OLG’s really breathtaking and beautiful so do make a trip there if you can, mass timings and a map are located on their website.

Hope you enjoy this sneak preview of their wedding which I photographed, stay tuned for more shots of their dinner ceremony which I will be posting in a few days time.

Jeffrey & Joan's pre-wedding shoot

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Here are some outdoor pre-wedding shots of Jeffrey and Joan which I photographed around Shah Alam last Sunday.  This photography session was really special as both Jeffrey & Joan are a hearing impaired couple.

Through out the session, I managed to communicate with them using the American Sign Language (ASL) which I had learned a few years ago under the REACH ministry in St. Francis Xavier Church, Petaling Jaya.  Luckily for me, I still remember some signs.

I do hope you enjoy browsing through their photographs and do keep a close eye on my blog site for more photos of their wedding and dinner session in the coming days.

University Hertfordshire @ INTI College Subang Jaya Alumni Reunion

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Last friday I had the opportunity to photograph the inaugral gathering of about 50 alumni members of both University Hertfordshire and INTI College at INTI College’s campus in Subang Jaya. The event was graced by UH’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Tim Wilson, UH’s faculty members, past students, lecturers and staff from both INTI and Laureate.

I was also pleasantly surprised to find INTI’s plain white hall converted into a beautiful and sophisticated gathering place accompanied by lovely decorations. The day’s program went well and included the launching of their blog site as well as organising networking activities among the alumni members.

1st Holy Communion, 26 October 2008

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

After almost 2 years of heading for mass in Assumption & SFX Church in Petaling Jaya, I was really happy to be back to Holy Redeemer Church in Klang for a photography assignment; my first ever 1st Holy Communion shoot ! Another reason I was estatic to do this shoot is because I had received my 1st holy communion in the same church as well !
Taking photographs of a group of 38 young kids who are full of energy and excited accompanied by their trigger happy parents is not an easy challenge but I have come away for a whole lot of knowledge to handle the same situation in the future.  Thankfully the event was well organised and Father Joachim Tan was extremely patient throughout the whole ceremony.

Here are some tips to parents or 1st Holy Communion organisers to ensure you have the best photographs :

* If you have a designated professional photographer to shoot the event, please ensure the parents put away their camera as this only distracts the children and makes it difficult for the professional to get the shots he/she needs.

* Have a person in charge to organise and arrange the group and family shots.

* Do remind the children to smile a little and not feel nervous when facing the camera (except when receiving communion).
