I just had one of the most amazing weekend and all this thanks to the team from AllMalaysian.Info! This was our second project which coincided with the Sunway Memories Photography Contest. This time a group of 25-odd blogger cum photographers were sent on an all paid trip to the Lost World of Tambun in Ipoh.
Receiving the email confirming my participation in the programme, I assumed this to be just a casual trip for photo enthusiasts to go ‘trigger happy’ but I was surprised at the amount of activities that were arranged for us. This 2D1N camping expedition was a complete adrenalin rush from the start to the finish. Upon arriving at the Lost World of Tambun, we were entertained by the Malayana Tribe dance performance which was followed by the park tour and lunch cum photo workshop at the Kepura Cave (imagine dining in style in the cave!). We then set up our camps at ‘Needle Village’ before heading off to enjoy the park’s dry and wet attractions. After a sumptous BBQ dinner we were broken up to 3 teams where we played an entertaining game of ‘Counter Strike Live’. Which needless to say, my team won all the challenges hands down!
I woke up at nearly 6.30am only to be greeted by bloggers who were also early risers (Sashi, Puspa, Hurleyz, Ravin), we then headed off to watch the morning feeding session of 3 cute two-month old tiger cubs at the Tiger Valley. I’ve always had a dream to play with tiger cubs and the experience which brought me (up close) to them was simple amazing! We then quickly rushed to get dressed and headed off for breakfast.
Our group was then split into 2, the frist – to the ‘Six Mile Tunnel Cave Exploration’ while the second to ‘Gua Datok’. I joined the Gua Datok expedition; before we left, we were given safety gears, energy bar, mineral water and had to undergo a quick round of exercise. The hike-up to the cave was very steep and the ground slippery at times. This brought me back to yesteryears when I used to join many outdoors activities, I’ve quite mellowed down now and got accustomed to hotels and porter service. Nevertheless, I’ve got to thank both Novin & Vicknes for keeping an eye on me throughout the hike!
After our final lunch meal at Waves Restaurant we packed up and headed back to KL. All in all, I had a blast… looking back, all the body ache and leech bites were totally worth it and I have to thank AMBP, Sunway group, Mayflower and the team from Lost World of Tambun for an amazing experience! A big shout out to some of the most amazing bloggers and photographers alike who made the trip a blast!
