St Anne’s Feast at Port Klang, 25 July 2009

I’d like to share some images photographed during St Anne’s Feast last Saturday in Port Klang. I’ve realised, as years go on, it gets more difficult to complete the 9-day Novena and the overwhelming record-breaking crowd does not make it easy for everyone to get a seat and the heat does not help either.

Nevertheless pilgrims from near and far come earnestly with their intentions to pray, to be inspired, to give thanks and to hear the priest from all over Malaysia and even Singapore preach. Salaam Wanita – Part 2

This is the second part to the charity shoot for a local NGO called eHomemakers and their Salaam Wanita members. These shots were taken in Kajang, the first is of Justina Low who suffers from short attention span and needs looking after but has taken an interest in cultivating earthworms to be sold to earn an income.

The second shoot was supposed to be of Nurol Shafika who was born with only 1 eye and sells murukus for a living. Due to an unfortunate accident on the day of the shoot, Nurol had to be rushed to the hospital to get her only eye checked as some oil had splashed into it while she was frying fish. Thankfully it was nothing serious.

Website Updated!

That’s right!

After some delay, my website – www.ashacarlos.com has actually been updated with the latest photographs taken at recent functions and parties.  I’ve even created a new section for wedding photography under ‘gallery’ so that couples would get a chance to see some examples of photos taken during various wedding ceremonies and dinner receptions.

There are still lots more wedding and event photographs to be updated, so please be patient and I’ll update it in time.

Salaam Wanita – Part 1

I try to volunteer my services especially in photography for charitable causes or projects as much as I can. This year I am fortunate enough to be contacted by eHomemakers to take some photographs of their Salaam Wanita members.

Last Saturday Rachael, who works with eHomemakers and I headed to Bandar Sri Damansara where I met up with Maxine Chan, her husband Yeoh and Rosnani Mohamad who are disadvantaged and supporting their family by earning a living despite their disabilities.

Sharon & Raveen’s Church Wedding

Here are just some of images of Sharon & Raveen’s Church Wedding which I photographed last week (11 July 2009) at St. Francis Xavier (SFX) Church in PJ, the service was later followed by a garden concept dinner held at Hideaway Bungalow (aka OUG Bungalow) at Old Klang Road which is very close to Pearl Hotel.

The garden area was transformed into a beautiful space with candles and rose petals. The ambiance was just gorgeous and the delectable dinner was served by Little Caterers. The reception was fun-filled and rocking with great music and ‘live’ performances from the couple’s family.

I can’t believe that I am so blessed to do what I do!! I love being able to document the most important day of a bride & groom’s life!

Pratiba’s ValaKappu (Bangle Wearing) Ceremony

I had the privilege of photographing Pratiba’s ValaKappu or Bangle Wearing Ceremony last Saturday, 4th July 2009 in Klang. It was a cosy and eventful evening, surrounded with close family and friends wishing nothing but love, luck and happiness to Pratiba.

I personally find being around a 7-month pregnant woman really comforting, especially when she allows me to rub her belly!
