Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

I’m in the midst of archiving my photos and I found this old photo which I had shot using my first point and shoot camera in the film days nearly a decade ago. It brought back fond memories of my childhood when I used to go to Port Dickson for family outings and weekend breaks. I was thrilled at the fact that I could capture a particular moment in time and bring it back with me to call my own and keep forever. This was one of my inspiration in picking up photography when I was growing-up.

Quite recently Port Dickson has become a popular outdoor photography location for pre wedding couples to take their outdoor photos.

I'm on Skype!

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Yes, its good news for all my existing clients, brides and potential brides who are living overseas at the moment and who want to speak to me in person.  I’ve re-installed skype so feel free to buzz me if you are looking for a wedding photographer to capture your important day or for any other events.  Please search for me “Asha Carlos” and add me in your list of friends.

Cheers!

Rovina Ikesh’s 21st Birthday Party

Monday, August 24th, 2009

I was the official photographer for Rovina Ikesh’s 21st birthday party on Saturday, 15 August 2009 at her home in Sunway. Rovina who’s currently studying to be a doctor, popped back to Malaysia from Romania for a short holiday and to celebrate her 21st birthday with a bang!

Her party had to be one of the most amazing and fairytale like 21st birthday party which I have photographed. The theme colour of the party was pink, hence Rovina’s house was decorated in an assortment of pink, even her family (especially the guys) went the extra mile to come dressed in pink! Everything from the drinks, to the aperitifs had the extra magical touch.

Guests were kept entertained with the great music by TJ the DJ and delish food all night long. Rovina even changed from her pink saree to a lovely pink frock towards the end of the event.

Rovina – Happy birthday again and your party definitely rocked!! Thanks for having me as your photographer, it was simply amazing!

Malaysia SME Congress: ‘Overcoming Adversity, How SMEs Do It’

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Interestingly enough, this was my 2nd conference on SME that I had attended in a period of 1 week. I had received the invitation from the organisers to join the Malaysian Small Medium Enterprise (SME) Congress on 18 August 2009 at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre.

The 1-day congress was titled ‘Overcoming Adversity: How SMEs Do It‘, there were well over 300 participants who came, as far of as Penang to network, learn from the panel speakers and mingle.

Here’s the program for the day:

All in all it was a great session of learning from the pioneers, I was impressed with the sit-down course dinner, the wealth of knowledge from the various speakers, their humble manner in sharing their past on how they started their business. Clearly starting a business is not easy, many have put their tears, blood and sweat into making their dream a reality.

The sponsorship from the 3 main giants Cisco, Celcom & TM made the event accessible for everyone and on top of everything, I was lucky enough to win the SME Premium membership worth RM888.

So glad to be on the right track road of a successful photographer cum Entrepreneur.

Thanks to Michael Chan from MMS Advertising for this shot

Food and Hotel Malaysia 2009 (FHM 2009)

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

I had the opportunity to visit the 10th Malaysian International Exhibition of Food, Drinks, Hotels, Restaurant, & Foodservice Equipment, Supplies, Services & Related Technology or in other words – Food & Hotel Malaysia held at KLCC Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur last week on 14 August 2009, If you’re wondering, FHM is one of the largest f&b and hospitality industry event in Malaysia and is attended by thousand in the food industry.

This interesting and mouth watering event was held from August 11 – 14, 2009. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love food, so this event which was showcasing a range of hoteliers, suppliers, products, services was like a candy store to me, the only other place which I love and spend hours without realising the time passing is at the bookstore or library.

Due to the limited time here are just some of the images I managed to capture on the day.

Beautiful sign that greeted the trade visitors as they walked in

Prahalad & Indrani’s Civil Marriage Registration

Monday, August 17th, 2009

I love weddings!! Whether I am attending it as a guest or as a photographer. To me, getting married can be one of the most beautiful gesture where two people express their love for one another. Every time I photograph a wedding ceremony, it brings me back to own wedding, a mixed feeling of joy, love, sadness and wonderment.

Here are some images which I photographed last Tuesday, 11 August 2009 for one of my best friend’s civil registration. The ceremony was short and sweet and took place at Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam.

Both Indrani & Prahalad looked dashing on their special day. Pralad’s mom and niece flew in especially for the civil wedding ceremony from London, UK while Prahalad flew in from Sydney, Australia.

Indra & Prahalad – Congratulations to you both, you’re a match made in heaven!

Birds Photography

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

This is the continuation blog posting of the kids birthday function I did at KL Bird Park last week. Photographing birds is not an easy task, ask anyone from the MNS‘s birdwatching group. One needs a lot of patience, steady hands to hold the heavy and long lens and to be quiet when photographing these delicate creatures.

Hence, I am lucky to have had the opportunity to photograph these majestic birds in close proximity. Most of these birds are habituated to the park and are docile, but visitors are asked not to feed birds and not to touch the birds unless supervised.

The Hornbill daringly sat beside me to nibble at my salad while I ran for cover and grabbed my camera to photograph it

Faza & Faaz’s Birthday Celebration at KL Bird Park

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Two of my most favourite subjects to capture during a photo shoot are kids and food and yes these were abundant last Saturday, 8 August 2009 when I was commissioned to shoot Faza (celebrating her 7th birthday) and Faaz (celebration his 1st birthday) at the KL Bird Park in Kuala Lumpur.

Kids can be the most amazing subjects to shoot, their immeasurable energy and enthusiasm are so infectious. Faza captivated her friends with her jovial character while Faaz kept the crowd smitten with his cheeky smile.

The kids had a fun time learning about birds and participating in the bird feeding sessions. I guess the highlight had to be the bird show! After the entertaining session, the kids were then ushered to the ‘Hornbill Restaurant’ for the birthday party and celebration.

Huge thank you to Mazrul & Khairin for allowing me to document this awesome day, I’ve had such fun and hope you love the photos too!

A big shout out goes to Geremy, the Education Officer from KL Bird Park who kept us all amused with his funny jokes and abundant information about birds!

Linked-In

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

Yes as you have realised I am an Internet Junkie or social network geek in other words ;o)

I’ve yet again added another social network called Linked-In to my long list of followings i.e. facebook, twitter, orkut, flickr etc.

After meeting up with a friend for dinner last night who assured me that Linked-In is another great site for networking, I’ve joined in.  So for those who are already in, do add me under your network – Click me. I’m still new to it, so may not have much stuff posted on it yet.
