Lake Gardens in Black & White

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

I know I’ve not been updating my blog as frequently as I should be, I’m currently spending some quality time to reorganise all my photos.

My website is also being tweeked to perfection, so get ready for a much fresher and user friendly website coming your way really soon!

In the mean time, here’s one of my favourite black & white image which I captured using my first camera, Nikon F50 and processed in the dark room.  Shot was taken in KL’s ever famous Lake Gardens.

Canon Photo Marathon Malaysia 2009

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Whenever there is talk of Nikon versus Canon, I’m always on Nikon’s side, as most of my camera, lenses and equipment I own belongs under the Nikon flag, but I also own Canon point and shoot cameras and love the fact that Canon’s Service Centre has always been much quicker to respond and solve any problems I’ve had.

Anyway, let me put aside these thoughts and share with you an interesting event called “Canon Photo Marathon 2009” which will be organised on 10 October 2009 in Sunway Lagoon Theme Park from 7:00am to 9:00pm. Do check out their website to know more about the event.

It does not matter what camera make you own, just remember to register yourself on their website and have lots of fun!

Singapore at Night

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Hello everyone, as promised here are some shots taken during my short break in Singapore. These shots are taken using a cheap point & shoot camera at night at the Esplanade in Singapore.

To get clear crisp shot which aren’t so pixelated on the point and shoot, the camera was set to a slow shutter speed and was balanced on a flat surface i.e. railings, chairs etc. (since I didn’t have a tripod with me).

Try to use the camera’s timer to avoid any shake as even your fingers pressing down on the camera can cause enough movement to blur your photo (with a timer, you don’t have to touch the camera while you take the photo).

Portraiture of a Dancer

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Hi everyone! Sorry for the late update, I’ve been in Singapore for a couple of days now, and had a wonderful trip!

I’m the midst of sorting the travel photos at the moment, hope to share some interesting tips and pointers with everyone in the coming days.  While waiting, here’s a shot which I stumbled upon, taken during my film days of a cruise dancer during one of their performances at Matta Fair, a travel and trade related fair, held twice a year in March and September in PWTC, KL which offers some great bargains to travellers alike.

This reportage shot was taken with my then F50 Nikon film camera and the 70-300mm lens (which I have since sold-off) .

Engagement Cakes

Friday, September 4th, 2009

Here are some photographs which I captured of two engagement cakes made by Mrs. Renuga of Cakes, Cakes and More.

The cakes are decorated using fondant icing and lifelike roses. These roses are handmade in 5 stages and can take up to 2-3 weeks to complete.  Those wanting to purchase the roses, would need to submit their orders at least 2 months in advance and for the cake orders at least 3-4 months in advanced.

Kids outdoor portrait session

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

I had the opportunity to photography Arin’s children, Jared & Jaime at her apartment recently to coincide with the children’s school holiday period.   We even had one of Jaime’s friend Gracie join us for the session. Here are just some of the images captured on the day.

A lot of parents don’t realise how important it is to capture beautiful images of their children, while they are still young and growing up. Without realising it kids would soon be teenagers in a blink of an eye and all those precious moments lost.

Arin – Thanks for being so hospitable and cooking up a storm for me ;o)
