Here are some photos photographed during the Tour of Britain event. There are 8 stages in total which started on 4 September 2016 and it ends in London on 11 September 2016. I was lucky to photograph them when they were in Congleton for the Stage 3 of their Tour where they cycled from Congleton for about 180km to Tatton Park. It was a lovely atmosphere where hundreds of people from all walks of life turned up to cheer them on. Most of the roads were closed and people were everywhere. I went to join the crowd with my camera and my 3 year old son to witness and capture some photos. I did not know any of the famous cyclist but luckily managed to photograph some important and legendary figures such as Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish, Ian Stannard, Steve Cummings amongst others. It was really inspirational to watch the event and wonderful to see the participation of the town’s people. Here ar e some of my highlist and favourite images, to see more photos, do visit my facebook page where I have over 60 photos of the event – Asha Carlos Photography
Above photo taken just as the race started and they were leaving Congleton town.
Lots of bicycles were on display for the people to look at
Some of the crowds on the day, lots of kids were there even a huge turn out from the Congleton Cycling Club
Loved the huge advert on the tour buses, this was one of my fav of the day
The cyclist who were mostly sponsored by big named brands had so many spare bicycles following them
The cars and bicycles were lined up on the main Congleton Road
As a photographer, I enjoy photographing from the hip, something which I used to do before especially when I used to take street photography shots. People sometimes get intimidated when they see a camera pointing at them, so when I shoot from the hip, I get lots of different angles.
This was the main starting point of the cyclist, they rode past the high street then on to Macclesfield and thereon towards Tatton Park
I managed to photograph some big named cyclist, see if you can recognise any
Ian Stannard, who was the winner for the Stage 3 competition!
