Baby Baptism at Christ Church, Tunstall

I was recently asked to photograph baby Dontae-Romeo’s Baptism in Christ Church Tunstall in the city of Stoke-on-Trent and in the County of Staffordshire. The church which has been in operation since 1832 is beautiful and the baptism ceremony was held there on a Sunday during their morning, 10am service. Father John Stather is the current vicar of the Church. Here’s a photo of the little boy with his mum, Sarah.

Celebrating Chinese New Year in Manchester

We decided to celebrate Chinese New Year in Manchester this year with some friends. We brought along our children ranging from the ages of three plus to seven-years-old.  They enjoyed watching the parade, lion dance and participating in the  Chinese New Year activities at Central Library.  As we were walking towards Chinatown where most of the event took place, there was lots of stalls selling toys and chinese decorative lanterns which was alongside stalls selling street food.  Theme park style amusement rides were also aplenty, classical music lovers would have enjoyed listening to the Chinese Opera singers . Finally before we left we also experienced the familiar sounds of the chinese fireworks. All in all, it was a fabulous day. Do check out the photos and videos below.

Themed Birthday Party at Middleport Pottery

Here’s a birthday party for our 6 year old girl which we celebrated at Middleport Pottery as she loved clay making and pottery.  She decided to go with a princess theme for the party and some kids even came dressed up for it. Birthdays parties one of the important moments of a child’s life to document as kids grow up so quickly.  As a parent myself, I understand that we tend to be busy organising the party and chatting with friends that we might forget to take photos of the party hence having a professional photographer to capture the important happenings of the day is crucial. Here are some photos of the party, which I photographed, I do hope you enjoy viewing it.

Tour of Britain

Here are some photos photographed during the Tour of Britain event. There are 8 stages in total which started on 4 September 2016 and it ends in London on 11 September 2016. I was lucky to photograph them when they were in Congleton for the Stage 3 of their Tour where they cycled from Congleton for about 180km to Tatton Park. It was a lovely atmosphere where hundreds of people from all walks of life turned up to cheer them on. Most of the roads were closed and people were everywhere.  I went to join the crowd with my camera and my 3 year old son to witness and capture some photos. I did not know any of the famous cyclist but luckily managed to photograph some important and legendary figures such as Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish, Ian Stannard, Steve Cummings amongst others.  It was really inspirational to watch the event and wonderful to see the participation of the town’s people. Here ar e some of my highlist and favourite images, to see more photos, do visit my facebook page where I have over 60 photos of the event – Asha Carlos Photography

Above photo taken just as the race started and they were leaving Congleton town.

Shugborough Christmas Fair, Stafford

Christmas is heading our way soon and to get into the mood I decided to visit Shugborough Christmas Fair in Stafford this weekend. The last time I was in Shugborough, it was for their Summer Food Festival in July this year. Personally I felt, the Summer Festival felt more vibrant with lots more stalls and vendors selling a variety of food, drinks, local art crafts compared to their Christmas Fair.  There was also a huge area dedicated for kids activities at their Summer Fair which was non  existent here.  I also felt some of the items sold at the Christmas Fair was more expensive, but this did not stop me from doing a some shopping myself.  Nevertheless it was a nice break to get away for a few hours by myself tasting new foods and discovering new craft gift ideas.  Here are some images which I have captured to share with you.

Foodies Festival at Tatton Park

I love Cheshire!  Of all the food fairs that I have attended in England, I have immensely enjoyed all the ones held in Cheshire and this one at Tatton Park held from 17-19 July was no different.  Although, the day was  quite cloudy and it looked like it was going to rain, I still headed off to Knutsford to spend my day at the Festival and low and behold the weather changed and I had the best time ever.

The Foodie’s Festival is held every year and this was their 5th year, hence plenty of artisan food and drinks to enjoy. There were children’s cookery classes, drinks theatre, cake & bake theatre which you had to book in advance. Celebrity cooks such as Simon Wood (MasterChef winner), Katy B (Vegan food blogger), Helen & Lisa Tse (owners of Sweet Mandarin restaurant) as well as Malaysian Chef Norman Musa conducted classes at the Chefs Theatre.

Shugborough Food Festival, Stafford

I recently had the opportunity to attend the Great British Food Festival at the Shugborough Estate in Stafford which was held on 11 and 12 July 2015 with my family. We found it to be a fun day out for the whole family especially since the weather was beautiful. I found the festival to be very laid back and relaxed, there were some food tents with vendors selling and promoting their products, live music, various kid’s entertainment, live cooking demonstation by Chefs (such as Great British Bake Off and Masterchef Finalist) as well as competitions such as Men vs Food and Cake Off for the avid baker.  A lovely way to spend some quality time with the family, just remember to bring along a picnic mat, your suncream, hat and sunglasses or umbrella if it rains.

Cheshire County Show

I recently had the opportunity to attend Cheshire County Show at Clay House Farm in Tabley near Knutsford. The Cheshire Show which has a history of over 100 years old is a yearly event and was held on 23 and 24 June 2015 this year.

I loved the fact that there were lots of clearly marked yellow signpost as I was driving towards Knutsford, there was one sign even saying not to follow the gps but to follow the yellow marked signs. There was a huge bottleneck heading to the carpark but otherwise everything went on smoothly. Plus, the weather on both the days were sunny and just wonderful.

There was an amazing 2-day line-up of events packed with fun-filled activities for the whole family that you will be lost for choices. Because the ground is so large and the activities are aplenty, I would recommend you getting a copy of the Show Programme booklet which as sold for £4 each as you enter the showground.  Some of my favourites from the show just had to be the Food Hall, Shooting Range, Bolddog Ling FMX Stunt Motorcycle show, the livestock competitions and various stalls selling everything from garden decorations to sheep skin rugs.

BBC Good Food Summer, Birmingham

I have always wanted to attend a food show or food fair in UK and finally had the opportunity to attend the BBC Good Food Summer Show held at the NEC in Birmingham from 11 to 14 June 2015. It was a lovely experience as I got to see so many stalls promoting various types of food, drinks and wine. The best part of it all, there were lots of samples and tasting sessions for the visitors. There were also ample of stores selling products as well as promoting newly launched products.

I would definitely recommend attending an event like this as you would get your money’s worth in food samples, discounts on purchase as well as meeting celebrity chefs at the Supertheather and Interview Stage. Some of the celebrities featured this time were Mary Berry, Tom Kerridge, James Martin and Michel Roux Jr. amongst others. My suggestion would be to go as early as you can and spend the whole day there.

Open Farm Sunday at Reaseheath College

Spring arrived a little later then usual but nevertheless we are enjoying the beautiful sunny British weather at last. To make the best of the lovely weather, we headed over to Reaseheath College where they held an open day celebrating everything about farming. This event is held yearly in England where hundreds of farms join in to organise activities such as farm tours, trailer rides, guided walks, and meet the animal session amongst others. Some farms even sell their home grown produce to the visitors.

At Reaseheath College, we saw lots of animals in the farm, namely goats, sheeps, horses, ponies, chickens, pigs and cows amongst others. The kids had a lovely time getting up close and personal with the animals, as well as joining other kids friendly activities like face painting, toy tractor ride, animal petting and quiz.

I would fully recommend heading to any participating farms for next year’s Open Farm Sunday event which will be on 5 June 2016, here’s their website.
