Vidhya & Thenes’s Engagement Ceremony

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

I had the privilege to photograph Vidhya and Thenes’s Hindu Engagement ceremony at the beautiful Sri Muthu Mariamman Temple off Jalan Pantai Baharu in Bangsar on 14th December 2011. We started off at Vidhya’s home for some getting ready shots before heading off to the temple. It was a wet day but luckily the weather improved just as the Groom’s family arrived with the gift trays.

As you can see, Vidhya and Thenes looked absolutely gorgeous and they both planned the day meticulously so everything fell perfectly into place. Here are some sneak preview images of their special day.

David & Anantha’s Traditional Hindu Wedding Ceremony

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

I love weddings – it’s always a joy to capture the feelings and emotions of the day as the happy couple join together in celebration of their love, in the presence of their nearest and dearest. It was a real privilege to photograph the temple wedding ceremony of David and Anantha on the 20th of November at the Arulmigu Raja Rajeswari Temple, Taman Sentosa, Klang.

Temple wedding ceremonies are by their nature, particularly lively and colourful events, with an abundance of vibrant Sarees on display and jewellery aplenty, and this was no exception. Once I started clicking my camera, it was difficult to stop, I felt completely in my element and this is why I love photography and capturing those lifelong memories so much!

The temple ceremony was beautifully conducted by the Hindu priest with close family members and friends attending to shower the couple with love and their blessings. Anantha looked amazing in her Saree and her make-up was flawless while David looked dashing. Here are some sneak preview images taken at the temple during the ceremony. More images will be updated on the gallery section of my website soon.

Feel free to leave comments on my blog and here’s a link to their outdoor engagement photo session which I took for them earlier this year. Enjoy.

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

I photographed Selvi & Saravana Kumar’s wedding in Sri Thandayuthapani Temple, Jalan Ipoh, Sentul, KL on 28 November 2009. Here are some sneak preview photographs of their traditional Hindu wedding ceremony. The wedding was held at the Temple Chettiyar Hall located on the temple grounds.

It was a beautiful and traditional wedding ceremony which lasted about 2 hours followed by lunch served at the temple hall.

Selvi & Saravana – Thank you for being a lovely couple, it was great photographing your wedding. Hope you both had a lovely honeymoon in Bali too!

Rebecca & Rabindran’s Hindu Wedding – Part 1

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Wow! Its been quite a while since I updated my site…I apologise for the delay, its just that I have been really busy with so many new projects and have not had a chance to be online much. Anyway, here are some shots of Rebecca & Rabindran’s Hindu wedding held on 20 May 2009 in Kalamandapam or better known as Scott Road Temple in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

These shots were taken by a friend of mine, Dhivager who stood in for me as I was not able to shoot this event due to personal reasons. Do stay tuned for Part 2, the church wedding ceremony which will be updated on my blog soon.

Do enjoy the images!

Dev & Thiru’s Wedding Ceremony, 23 March 2009

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Here are some shots of Dev & Thiru’s Wedding which I shot at the Sri Sithi Vinayagar Temple in Petaling Jaya, last monday. I had to rise up at the break of dawn as the wedding was at 7.30am, my earliest temple wedding as yet!

Both of them looked really suave especially Thiru who looked ravashing in her imported gold woven Saree from India. Being a Malayalee wedding, the ceremony took only about 10 minutes and was over in a jiffy. After breakfast, the couple headed back to Dev’s house for the traditional milk and banana eating ceremony. Sweet is served to the couple by their parents and family members to symbolise sweatness in their life.

A huge shout out goes to my friend Amru from Enchanted Forest, whom I got acquainted with during LP’s Workshop. Thanks loads Amru! Can’t wait to reciprocate and shoot with you this coming weekend!

These past 2 weeks !

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

Ironically enough, its been 2 long weeks since I last posted anything on my blog, you can call it the writer’s blog syndrome or even blame it on my hectic schedule…. Anyway…here’s my sincere apologies and as a bonus, there will be a couple of interesting posts coming along your way in the coming days :p

So keep a close watch on my blog!

Let me share with you some of the photos I took of Wignesh and his family in Subang Jaya. These shots were taken on 14 September 2008 before he left his house for his temple wedding. As a photographer, its always handy to have contacts of friends who are also professional photographers, in case you are unable to cover a certain event or have to be at 2 places at once. I did these shots for another friend of mine who needed me to cover the “getting ready” shots.

Leena's ValaKappu (Bangle Wearing) Ceremony, 16 Feb 08

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

ValaKappu (Lenggang Perut) ceremony is usually done during the 7th month of pregnancy. It was my first time attending such a ceremony I was really excited to see what was installed. The ceremony was held in Ipoh and lasted a little more than an hour was filled with colours from the start to the end.

Relatives took turn to bless Leena and slip bangles on each of her arms, she was then smeared with sandalwood paste on her hands and cheeks which is believed to give a cooling effect to pregnant mothers due to hormal changes in the body. Later sweet indian delicacies such as white and brown rice are given to her to eat.

Part of the ceremony also included three female relatives who took turns to drizzle a little milk from her back, the milk held in a small container with a tapered spout is commonly used by Indian mothers to give medicinal concoctions to infacts.

Personally, I enjoyed the ceremony and loved the colours of the gifts and the bangles. Thanks to Vicram & Leena for the enjoyable time, wishing you lots of luck and safe delivery of the little one.

Raju & Yesothai's Engagement

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

This engagement shoot at home, in Batang Berjuntai. Its a nice scenic place there, more like the malaysian kampung (country side). Both the bride and groom were very shy as it was an arranged marriage. The weather was fine till I arrived at their home, but luckily it was an indoor event and the weather subsided later on. They were indeed surprised to find out that the photographer was female and kept calling me “photoman”.

Prakash & Pratiba's Engagement

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

I love taking photos, but sometimes its a challenge to shoot family functions as there is so much of buzz and family wanting to chat with me despite that fact that I am ‘working’. Nevertheless I always love to capture little moments such as this and am always honoured when I am asked to photograph such important moments.

Thanks Prakash & Preeti for letting me be a part of your wonderful day!
